I'm pretty bummed out today. Our house is falling apart and it's getting expensive. First, there was the closet issue. Which I started to view as a blessing in disguise, or a sign or something. I have always wanted to have a closet specially designed by a closet design company. In fact, I had a designer from California Closets come out yesterday for a free design and estimate. I knew it would be expensive, but was actually happy with the amount she quoted. I also asked her to work something up for the closet in the office. It holds all of the office supplies, craft items, some books and a hodge-podge of other stuff, so I was looking for lots of cubbies and drawers. Truthfully, I was more excited about that design than the one for our master bedroom closet.
Our second issue is that we need a new air conditioner. The current unit is 8.5 years old, and while that isn't ancient, that's about the time big things start going wrong. Ours has a leak, which can be very costly to repair. As old as ours is, we'd be better off purchasing a new, more efficient system.
So company number one came out yesterday afternoon to give us an estimate. I won't share the quote because just thinking about it makes me feel queasy. Naturally, the guy immediately starting telling us all about this awesome unit with really great features. At least he's not trying to sell us a system that's too large for our needs, I'll give him credit for that.
Now Tom has stars in his eyes, thinking about the amazing system and all the things it can do. I, on the other hand, like most women, just want a decent air conditioner that will cool the house in the summer, heat it in the winter, and not cost too much while doing it.
We have a second company coming out today. I'm interested to see if they go the same route, dazzling us with the bells and whistles.
But the way it's looking, the designed closets are appearing less and less doable. And I can definitely forget about the diamond earrings.
Go Go Gadget Air Conditioner!
Sorry about the earrings and the closet organizers. Someday...they will be yours!
