The weekend went by much, much too quickly. It didn't help that the garage sale ate up about two thirds of it. I spent about five hours on Friday setting up tables, organizing items and helping Joy price her stuff. I'm really glad that I left work a couple of hours early. That time was well used.
The garage sale took up most of Saturday. We did pretty well. Neither of us made a lot of money, but we didn't have any big ticket items, just a ton of little things. Every time we have a sale we are amazed at what sells and what doesn't sell. Every online garage sale guide I read said that clothing, other than kid's clothing, doesn't sell. Not true in our case. We sold quite a lot of clothing. Even Dean's raggedy, faded polo shirts sold. All but one pair of men's jeans sold and ladies shoes were pretty popular, even the well worn pairs. Beauty and health sold well, particularly the samples we get from Lancome and Clinique GWP.
Most holiday items were skipped over, though they would probably sell during a fall sale. I only sold a few of my Cherished Teddies figurines, but the Precious Moments animals were purchased.
We couldn't have asked for better weather. It was clear and sunny, with comfortable temperatures and a slight breeze. All in all, it was a good day. But tiring. Getting up early and spending hours outside can really take it out of a person. When I finally got home I took a huge nap.
Sunday was pretty busy too. I spent the morning working around the house, de-cluttering as usual. Then I met Tom at Beef O'Brady's for lunch after his baseball game. Their first game of the season. (they lost) I enjoy having Sunday mornings to myself and don't plan on going to lunch with the team every week. And I certainly don't plan on attending the games. But what I don't like about baseball season is that every single Sunday is already booked. That only leaves Saturday to spend time with Tom bike riding, shopping or whatever. Soon I will be playing tennis again on Saturday mornings, so when will we ride our bikes? Stupid baseball…
Congrats on the garage sale! That's funny about the common opinion that clothes don't sell. I've always done well with clothing.
Baseball. We're just entering into that with Parker's T-ball. Time consuming already!!!
