Speaking of heat, tennis last night wasn't too horrible due to a good bit of cloud coverage. Though it was really humid and we were all dripping with sweat in no time. We had enough people for a two hour class. (if less than 8 we only do one hour) I was hitting fairly well, but my legs really hurt whenever I ran. I'm trying to prevent that very thing with cross training. Could be that my shoes are getting worn out. I have been wearing the same pair since I started back at the beginning of May, after my hand surgery. Might be time for a new pair. In fact, I should get two pairs so that I could alternate them.
So, for the second weekend in a row, we've been having great waves due to a tropical storm hundreds of miles from the coast. The surfers are thrilled and I'm thrilled for them. Except… Tom has now started to want a surf board. He surfed all through high school and for a number of years after. That's all great, but I think it's time to let that stuff go with the past. All of his friends surfed back then, so he had plenty of people to surf with. Plus, he didn't have bicycles to ride back then.
Here's what I think is going to happen. He will find a board, hopefully used. Spend a hundred bucks or two (or more) on it, use it a few times then —
He won't have anyone to surf with. I would be willing to learn, but I have to lose 30 pounds before I will wear a bathing suit in public. Next, there won't be any waves once hurricane season has passed. So the surf board will hang out in the guest bathtub until he sells it a few years down the road. I hate being a meanie all of the time, but I simply can't support this latest kick.
Lets go surfin now
Everybodys learning how
Come on and safari with me...
Yes, Tom should get a board and we can all go surfing together. How fun would that be? :) I wear a rash guard (clingy t-shirt) and you can wear board shorts too to eliminate having to wear a bathing suit out there.
