My rather active weekend has left me physically wiped today. Despite that, before I could talk myself out of it, I went ahead and signed up for a particularly brutal CrossFit workout today. Am I a glutton for punishment or what?
Friday's CF workout wasn't brutal per se, though it definitely caused soreness that I'm still feeling today. Bench press and pull-ups, five rounds, max reps. I'd never done bench press before so the weight was fairly low, just the 45 pound bar. But weight is not that important when you are going until you simply can't do another. More reps, but just as tiring.
The workout didn't necessarily hamper tennis on Saturday morning, though by the last set I was pretty tired and having some trouble serving. Or it could have been because I had played for four hours. Either one would do it. But things were going well and I was having fun - what can I say?
After my shower I scrunched mousse into my hair and attempted my new look. The top didn't do as well as I would have liked. After it dried, I added some additional curls with a one inch curling iron. Saw some decent results there. But I don't want to have to use a curling iron. That's not the point of a scrunch and go style. I haven't tried drying it straight yet. Sure hope that goes okay or I'll have to go back to Lori for Hair Technique Lessons.
On Sunday morning we rode bikes bright and early. Earlier than I would have liked. Hopefully soon it will cool off enough that we can start an hour or so later. Anyway, it was just Alex, Dallas, Tom and I. Alex had time constraints so we only did both sides of River Road, which is about 28 miles. We kept a pretty steady, strong pace and I was pleased that I was able to keep up.
After lunch and some TV watching, I ended up taking a long nap. Too long, really. I had such a difficult time waking up. I hate that feeling. Finally, I roused myself and turned on the computer to get started on some freelance work. I took a brief detour to the CrossFit website and found that the WOD was deadlifts. I kind of like deadlifts and wanted to see if I could lift more weight since the last time that workout had come up in the rotation. On June 30, my maximum 3 rep lift was 165 pounds.
On September 25, my maximum 3 rep lift was 195 pounds. That's a 30 pound increase! Allie originally wanted me to go for 200, then decided that we could save it for next time. I look forward to it!
