The long holiday weekend really put me off my usual schedule. Other than one morning of tennis and one day of mountain biking, I haven't really had much exercise since Saturday the 19th, in which I participated in Pull-Ups for Pitbulls and tore a callous after doing 78 pull-ups. Now that I think about it, that probably kept me away from the gym more than anything.
But I started back last night and don't feel that I lost anything during my week off. I managed another kipping pull-up (that makes two!) and Allie suggested that I start using the very lightest band for my assisted pull-ups. I thought I was already using the lightest one, but there is a very skinny lavender one that I didn't know existed. It doesn't offer much support, but I think it will be a nice final step before I progress to fully kipping.
Here's a very short, simple video of kipping pull-ups:

But last night's WOD had nothing to do with pull-ups, they're just part of the warm up we all do before each workout. Instead, we did dead lifts and hand stand walking. Gymnastics is actually an element of CrossFitting. Now, I can't get into a handstand at all, much less walk 21 meters. So I had to do it assisted with bands and basically walk in place by picking each hand up to my shoulder from the floor. Don't worry if you can't picture that based on my sketchy explanation, just know that it is much harder than it sounds, if you have a weak upper body like I do.
No CrossFit tonight because I have doubles tennis on Tuesdays. Looking forward to playing, plus the cooler temps we're supposed to have this afternoon.
