Not playing tennis on Saturday wasn't all bad. I was able to sleep a bit later, putter around the house in a manner of avoidance, then finally get my butt in gear and outside to wash my car. It was embarrassingly filthy so it took a long time. But the weather was pleasant and my audiobook was engaging.
After I got the Bimmer all spiffied up, I spent some time pulling and spraying weeds. No plant trimming however. Though it has warmed up nicely lately, it's still too early to count out another freeze. I don't want to make the plants any more vulnerable. It's bad enough they have flaky, forgetful me as their sole protector. I'm a bit concerned about the Crown of Thorns. A couple of nights it got pretty cold even though we were not under a freeze warning. How hard would it have been to throw a sheet over one small plant? Not at all, but it didn't occur to me until the next morning when I checked the temperature and found it to be in the low 30s. Oops.
On Sunday I went on a road ride while Tom had baseball practice. I met Alex, Jeanene and a number of Space Coast Freewheelers for a 9am ride from Cocoa Village. I was worried about how chilly it might be and what to wear, but by the time we started it was quite nice and I found that a short sleeve shirt was perfect. A number of times I found myself pulling at the front of the group, so I definitely got a good workout.
It felt good to be back on the bike. I have been thinking about the fact that through all of the oddball injuries I seem to attract, the one activity I can nearly always continue to enjoy - is bicycling. Guess that's why I'm BIKGRL, right?
