This is terribly cliché, but wow does time fly! How can it be the end of July already? The month really went fast.
It's been a ridiculously hot summer, but I'm trying to get back to my walking routine. I walked twice last weekend and the heat became oppressive pretty quickly. So on Saturday I got up early and was out the door by 8:00. Still wasn't early enough. It's going to be humid and warm no matter what, but I'd like to avoid having the bright sun burning down on me. Walking in the evening is out because by the time the sun has started to go down, the mosquitoes have started to come out. I'd rather be burnt to a crisp than eaten alive.
I walked six miles and was happy with that. Not bad, considering how long it's been since I last did a long walk. I'm (a tiny bit) considering walking a half marathon this fall. I've always wanted to participate in the Space Coast Marathon and Half Marathon. I doubt that I will ever run such a distance, but I'm sure I could walk it. I was up to 10 miles a few months ago and 13.1 isn't very much further. Maybe if I can find some other walkers to walk with. As much as I enjoy walking alone, listening to an audiobook, I don't want to do that during an event. I don't think that would be much fun – might as well walk from home otherwise.
No go. I just checked the website and registration has closed. It probably fills up pretty fast. I hadn't thought about that. So maybe next year. Or maybe I can find another one that sounds interesting.
