How can it be Monday already? Wasn't it Friday just five minutes ago?
Friday after work was nice. I made a cup of hot chocolate and watched one of my shows. Might have watched some tennis, but I can't recall. The Australian Open is going on right now and I haven't watched as much as I would like. I played a new game on my iPad (Shades) and just relaxed in general. We had our usual pizza and watched TV.
For the past two weeks I've had sinus headaches and have just felt yucky. Friday evening was bad and by the time I went to bed I thought, "Okay - this is it. I'm truly coming down with something." While I did have a headache on Saturday morning, I didn't feel any worse than I have been so I guess it was a false alarm.
Which is good, because Tom and I had a project lined up: installing attic flooring panels.
We discovered Attic Dek, which The Home Depot website describes:
Help provide your attic with additional storage space with the Attic Dek 24 in. x 16 in. Attic Flooring Panels. These durable panels can support up to 250 lb. and are vented so insulation can breathe easily. The panels can be easily installed by laying them on top of your ceiling joists and securing them with the included screws.
After reading reviews and watching installation videos, we decided this would be a good solution to our attic flooring problem. It made sense to start right at the opening to the attic and work toward the Christmas area, since all of the Christmas storage bins were still down in the garage.
Naturally, there were problems and obstacles, but in the end, it was done, using almost all of two of the three boxes I had ordered. That was enough time spent in the attic for one day, but on Sunday I went back up and spent some time exploring the north section, which is quite a disgraceful pile of stuff. Looks like someone just shoved car parts and Corvette seats up there with no plan whatsoever. In addition, I found that 75% of the rest of the stuff in that section belongs to Tom - lots of memorabilia, childhood toys and books, army stuff (from his dad), an afghan his grandmother made, etc. A problem for another day.
I returned all of the Christmas boxes to the attic and somehow I think I ended up with less space than before. Well, there was one prime spot in which there was no way to place a panel, so I could only put one very lightweight box there, instead of the three that would have fit otherwise. My wreaths still have to go up and one Corvette seat (sigh), but it looks like I'm very close to having my car back in the garage.
