We sold the couch! That's right, the one that's been on our (enclosed) back porch for a little over a year. I had been rather lazy about trying to sell it for quite some time. Basically, I listed it in the KSC Classifieds several times. There were a few inquiries, but no real interest. I knew I needed to try craigslist, but I had never posted anything there before and I didn't know how to do it and excuses, excuses.
Well this fairly large couch was taking up a lot of real estate on the porch. Tom's dad is having a garage sale at the end of the month and I have been amassing a quantity of stuff to try to sell. Naturally, the back porch is where everything has been stashed and it was getting mighty crowded out there. So on Sunday I was poking around on the computer and decided to finally get the couch listed on craigslist. Turns out, it's quite easy to do. Well, about an hour or so later a man called about the couch. Isn't that just nuts? There were so many listings for furniture, I didn't see how anyone would notice it, but this man was apparently looking for Ekornes Stressless furniture and bam. There was my listing.
He came right over from Cocoa Beach to inspect the couch. He liked what he saw, made an offer, I made a counter offer, which he accepted. The couch would not even come close to fitting in his SUV so we arranged that he would come over on Monday to pay and pick it up.
There were two obstacles to overcome. First, how to maneuver it out of the porch and two, we needed more muscle as the couch is very heavy. Tom's dad and cousin came over to help. By the time the buyer had arrived, the three men had moved it out the back door, then they all made quick work of carrying it around to the front and loading it into a U-Haul truck.
Seeing it sitting there in the truck - surprisingly, I didn't get all weepy sentimental - I could appreciate what a lovely piece of furniture it was and still is. I'm glad it's going to a good home.
